Missions Ministry

Missions at FBCS

No local church can really lay claim to being biblical in nature unless it pursues with heartfelt purpose some form of ongoing, practical application when it comes to the Acts 1:8 challenge given by Jesus Himself – “You shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.” In other words, we are to share the gospel by to witnessing to its truthfulness and life-changing power found only in Jesus Christ. If you picture Soperton as Jerusalem, Georgia as Judea, the United States as Samaria, and other nations as the remotest part of the earth, then the Lord’s command to his followers becomes even more crucial to obey and carry out.

As an Acts 1:8, Christ-honoring, local body of believers, FBC Soperton has ministries already in place to honor the missions mandate. Missions work is carried out by an extremely energetic group of long-standing WMU members. Missions efforts to other states has also been a part of the Soperton heritage. In addition, church members have adopted two International Mission Board couples for purposes of encouraging and sustaining their work in Ukraine and Russia. A recent vision trip to Sochi, Russia, proved very fruitful, and further overseas mission work will be scheduled for the years ahead, including the 2014 Winter Olympics to be held in Sochi. This local body of believers at Soperton is catching a glimpse of what the global church is all about, and we will continue to grow into an Acts 1:8 church that pleases the heart of our Lord!
